You Will Let Me Go |
LyricsYou Will Let Me Go. ...............Chris Orchard (copyright)Now you're all alone, you can reflect upon this purpose, and in this quiet place you can relax and be less nervous. Sadness drowns the space we're forced to contemplate, the limits of our time, But look into your heart, and there you'll make a start, to calm your troubled mind. And in the silence love breaks in, Pours into your heart and then Melts the chains that bind our souls And you will let me go! I sense that you're afraid I see you trapped in indecision. The future will unfold, you can't resist you know it's written! Love will show the way, and with each passing day You'll find some time to smile, And though its seems absurd, the laughter of the world Will carry you for miles And in the silence love breaks in, Pours into your heart and then Melts the chains that bind our souls And you will let me go! Though here we say goodbye, an essence will remain, buried in your heart! Memories will fade, reflections will inspire, shadows in the night, will sometimes make you cry, I promise I'll be there! And in the silence love breaks in, Pours into your heart and then Melts the chains that bind our souls And you will let me go And in the silence love breaks in, Pours into your heart and then Melts the chains that bind our souls And you will let me go |
Short Song Description: The singer is deceased and is addressing his partner at the time of his funeral. Helping to manage his/her grief. |
Long Song Description: The song was originally called THE WAY IT GOES. In November 2018 I appeared in a play in Sydney called Giving up the Ghost by Rivka Hartman. The play focused on the relationship of a married couple and how the wife was dealing with her husbands death. The play also dealt with the issue of euthanasia. I rewrote some of the lyrics to better fit the play as I was never entirely happy with the song. I performed the song to great effect at the end of the play. I believe now the story is much more accessible and I am delighted with the improvements. |
Story Behind the Song: A ghost sings to his/her wife in the moments before the funeral. |
